Should I consult my physician before using the Infrared Sauna?

You should consult your physician prior to using the Infrared Sauna if you are taking medications, are under the age of 15, are over the age of 65, have a cardiovascular condition, drink/abuse alcohol, have a disease associated with reduced ability to sweat or perspire, a hemophiliac, prone to bleeding, have a fever, are insensitive to heat, pregnant, menstruating, have a joint injury, have implants, have a pacemaker, or have a defibrillator.

What types of drugs may impair the bodys natural heat loss mechanisms?

Diuretics, barbiturates, and beta-blockers may impair the bodys natural heat loss mechanisms.

What type of drug may inhibit sweating? Anticholinergics such as Amitryptaline, may inhibit sweating and can predispose individuals to heat rash or to a lesser extent, heat stroke.

Will over-the-counter drugs cause any problems when using the Infrared Sauna?

Yes, some over-the-counter drugs such as antihistamines may cause the body to be more prone to heat stroke.

Can children use the sauna?

The core body temperature of children rises much faster than adults.  This is due to a higher metabolic rate and the inability to regulate body temperature by sweating.  When using with a child, operate at a lower temperature and for no more than 15 at a time.

Can the elderly use the sauna?

The ability to maintain core body temperature decreases with age.  This is due to circulatory conditions and decreased sweat gland function.  The body must be able to activate its natural cooling processes in order to maintain core body temperature.  When using with the elderly, operate at a lower temperature  and for no more than 15 minutes at a time.

I suffer from a cardiovascular condition, can I use the sauna?

Persons suffering from hypertension, hypotension, congestive heart failure, impaired coronary circulation or those taking medicines that might affect blood pressure should take precaution when exposed to prolonged heat.  Heat increases cardiac output and blood flow in an effort to transfer internal body heat to the outside by perspiration and respiration.

Can I use the sauna if I had few drinks last night?

You should not try to sweat alcohol out of the body.  Alcohol increases the heart rate, which may be further increased by heat stress.

What are some conditions associated with impaired sweating?

Multiple Sclerosis, Central Nervous System Tumors, and Diabetes with Neuropathy are some conditions.

Colon Hydrotherapy

Why is it necessary to get a colonic?

Having colonics prevents diseases.  Colon cancer is the second most common cause of death in the United States.  In fact, the American Cancer Society released information stating that colon cancer is the most common lethal cancer in the United States.

What type of device is used to perform colon hydrotherapy?

We use the Libbe.  It is considered by many the Mercedes Benz of colon hydrotherapy devices.

I have a bowel movement everyday, am I still a candidate for colon hydrotherapy? Yes.  Everyone is a candidate for colon hydrotherapy.  A person can have several bowel movements a day and still be constipated.

What is the difference between colon hydrotherapy and colonic irrigation?

There is no difference.  Colon hydrotherapy, colonic irrigation, and colonic are different names that are used for the same procedure.  The names are used interchangeably.

What is colon hydrotherapy?

Colon hydrotherapy is the internal washing of the colon.  It cleanses the colon of poisons, gas, and accumulated fecal matter.  It is a gentle, steady flow of water that enters the colon via a rectal tube that is inserted by the patient.

What happens to the rectal tube once I have a bowel movement?

The tube remains in place.  The temperature of the water along with the bodys natural reflex to eliminate, causes the anus to expand naturally and the feces escapes around the rectal tube.

How many colonics do I need?

The number of colonics needed depends on each individuals condition and symptoms.  For a person who has never had a colonic, it will generally take a few sessions to soften and loosen the impacted fecal matter.

Will I have instant relief after having a colonic?

It is not uncommon to not have relief the first time, but it is very likely that you will.  Getting relief does NOT mean that your colon is clean.

Are there any side effects to colonics?

There are no side effects to having a colonic.  However, it is not uncommon to feel weak, or feel like you have a headache or a cold.  This is very temporary and passes very quickly.

What is the function of the colon?

The colon is where the final digestion of food takes place.  It eliminates digestive residue and discharges toxins and wastes from the body.  The colon is also where nutrients and water are absorbed.

What causes the colon to become impacted with fecal matter in the first place?

The consumption of mucous-producing foods such as meat, dairy products, flour, refined foods, and fried foods cause dense sticky bowel movements.  These stools are difficult for the body to eliminate and leave behind a glue-like coating on the walls of the colon.
