Dr. W. Claire Wages
Dr. W. Claire Wages is the owner and founder of Back To Essentials established in April 2010. She had a vision to heal her community through education and making alternative, holistic solutions to illness available. She is a Holistic Healthcare Professional whose mission is to provide the highest quality healthcare with an emphasis on disease prevention and patient education. She strives to educate her patients in Human Anatomy and Physiology so that they can understand the dynamics of disease and how to prevent them. These patients will in turn, live a greater quality of life while educating others. She is committed to maximizing the quality of life within her community and genuinely enjoys educating and helping people.
Dr. Wages' passion for teaching stems from her many years of being an educator/instructor. She started her teaching career in high school when she was a Math tutor to her peers. After graduating high school from the 11th grade and receiving a full academic scholarship, she attended Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, Georgia. She graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at the top of her class (cum laude). She began teaching on the elementary level, in the 90's, after undergraduate studies. Inevitably, she began teaching on the collegiate level, teaching Anatomy and Physiology at Georgia Perimeter College in Atlanta, Georgia in 2005.

In 2006, Dr. Wages earned her Doctorate in Chiropractic from Life University College of Chiropractic in Marietta, Georgia. Dr. Wages received training in Colon Hydrotherapy from I-ACT (International Association of Colon Hydrotherapists) in 2008. She is now a Certified Colon Hydrotherapy Instructor, a Libbe Certified Therapist, and a certified member of NBCHT (National Board of Colon Hydrotherapy).

In June 2010, Dr. Wages returned to Columbia, SC and opened Back To Essentials to pursue her passion and manifest her vision. She has sat on the Advisory Board Committees of Heyward Career & Technology Center, Southeastern Institute, and Virginia College. She is a partner with Remington College, Benedict College, and Southeastern Institute facilitating their externs and establishing mentorships. She also gives back to the community by hosting interns, hosting workshops, speaking publicly, providing community screenings, and volunteering in School District 1 and 2. She has been featured on two segments of Living Well, a Public Service Announcement regarding health and disease prevention, hosted by Drew Wellness Center of Columbia, SC.

In November 2013, Dr. Wages became a Certified Medical Examiner and became a member of the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners. In 2015, Dr. Wages was appointed by Governor Nikki Haley to serve as a member on The Foster Care Review Advisory Board Committee in Richland County. Later in that year, she was inducted into The National Coalition of 100 Black Women.

In 2017, Dr. Wages received training in Yoni Steaming from The Sensual Honey Feminine Wellness Institute, where she is now a Certified Yoni Steam Practitioner. Safe, highly effective, natural and drug-free treatment methods, which help restore and maintain optimal health and prevention of disease, are passions of Dr. Wages'.

Dr. Wages' natural and holistic healthcare practice emphasizes a balanced approach of personalized nutrition programs, exercise regimens, and detoxification methods. Promoting health and wellness are Dr. Wages’ top priorities when caring for patients. She focuses on using drug-free, alternative methods to aid in her patient’s well-being. She performs manual adjustments and numerous physical therapy treatments depending on each patient’s individual needs.
