Vaginal/Yoni Steam

Updated: Oct 25, 2023

What is Vaginal/Yoni Steam?

Vaginal Steaming is an ancient healing ritual used by many civilizations globally; Africa, Central America, South America, Asia, and India. The Mayans (Mexico) healers called it “bajos (ba-hoes)”, a Spanish word that translates to Vaginal Steam Bath. Traditional Korean healers used this healing practice and called it “chai-yok (ki-yuk). Other names that translate into Vaginal Steam Baths are “Yoni Steam” and “Bertangas”. Current names that translate into Vaginal Steam Bath are “hip baths” and “v-steams/a-steams”. This steaming treatment helps to enhance the health of the reproductive system by assisting the function of all the organs. It warms the womb and invigorates the circulation of the blood. This helps to remedy the urogenital area as well as strengthen the health of the whole body.

The warm steam from the herbal tea rises, is absorbed by the skin, and enters the orifices. The natural antibiotic and anti-fungal properties are said to help maintain internal health as well as keeping your skin looking young. The combination of these herbs work to detoxify, nourish, tone, heal, bring in fresh oxygenated blood, promote cleansing, and make supple the vaginal and uterine tissues. The moist heat opens the pores of the tissues it comes into contact with. The water vapor carries the medicinal benefits of the plants, including volatile oils. This is absorbed into the tissues and enters the bloodstream, having a direct healing effect on the reproductive system. Vaginal tissue is one of the most absorbent of the entire female body.

Women who may benefit from vaginal steaming would be those with the following conditions: bacterial vaginosis (BV), yeast infections, postpartum, hemorrhoids, infertility, uterine fibroids, painful menstruation, uterine weakness, uterine prolapse, irregular menstrual cycles, ovarian/uterine cysts, endometriosis, reproductive adhesion/scar tissue, previous vaginal tears. scar tissue softening (C-section), episiotomies, hysterectomies, laparoscopies, and dark purple or brown blood at the onset or end of menses. The herbs in the Vaginal Steam Bath have been evidenced to reduce stress, regulate menstrual cycles, improve infertility, abolish hemorrhoids, alleviate cramps, tighten muscles, reduce spasms, prevent infections, clears up discharge, and even help with bladder/vaginal/digestive issues, and urinary tract infections.

During the V-Steam, one rests on a bottomless cubed stool positioned over a steaming pot of herbs. The person is draped in a kimono-like cape that covers the cube in its entirety. The draping ensures the trapping of the heat and steam, as well as provides privacy, while the perineal area and body underneath the drape receives the royal sauna treatment.

Men can also benefit from this service. However, it is called the A-Steam and works miracles in repairing hemorrhoids. When men steam, it is called an A- Steam (steaming the anus) or Lingam Steam (steaming the penis). The benefits of steaming the anus and the penis are soothing pain associated with hemorrhoids while alleviating pressure, toning the muscles in perineum (the area between the anus and genitals), increasing healthy circulation, shrinking enlarged prostate, improving prostate health, supporting healthy blood flow, strengthening and cleansing tissues of the perianal area, fighting bacteria and infections, promoting relaxation, emotional cleansing, and purifying energy.
